Finally, it is October!
October is one of my favorite months. I love seeing all the pumpkins, witches, goons and goblins! It is a great reminder that cooler weather is creeping in, and that football season is in full swing.
Here are a few Halloween-y crafts I WILL be making soon. The sooner, the better! :)
1. Halloween Headband Tutorial
Rosettes on anything are absolutely adorable. You can find the tutorial here.
2. Toilet Monster. Cut black paper and use googly-eyes (or paper)
to make a toilet monster! Maddison will get a kick out of this.
3. Pretty Beaded Pumpkins
I do believe I will be making these, and attaching black and white damask ribbon to the top. How cute!
4. Halloween Bat Bar Covers- I plan on making them for one of the kids trick or treat candy they bring to daycare. (Bat template here )
And the other child will bring #5. Sucker Spiders! I guess I should start looking for googly-eyes on sale somewhere.......

Momma's Growin Illegal Plants in her Backyard WHAT?!
I moved into my house two months ago.... I've had this squash-like plant/bush growing that I have had no idea what it was. I even went as far as uploading this picture to Facebook, tagging my grandma (yes, my grandparents are on Facebook!), so maybe she could identify it. We didn't know what it was...... Until......I saw some kids OVERDOSED from it on the news! Apparently, it is a "Jimson Weed" plant. Which was made illegal to grow since 2004........Whoopsy. Anyways, I called the police , they chopped it down and took it with them. I'm so glad it's been too hot to go outside with the kids and they haven't touched it!
The police officer said, "This is a good sized plant in great condition".......I had to laugh and say, "yeah, I've been keeping it watered!"

Lotsa work.
This is my pretty pond. I love watching my koi children! But.............................cleaning it is another story. Apparently algea likes to grow when it's hot. AND, since it has been record breaking month of heat this July....I've been busy. We have went through a pump already, and EVERY night I have to scoop off the algea blanket that forms every day. I obviously had/have no idea what I was getting into when I bought a house with this. I keep waiting for it to be too hot and the fish to die (so I can shock it and put more work into it next spring........bad Mom, bad Mom), but instead they are multiplying like rabbits!
How pretty are these?!?

I picked this up at the thrift store for $1.50.........the ribbon and greenery are already trashed! I loved the twig-type design and color. I can't wait to add my teal flowers!

$2/1 Glidden Paint Testers
Woo hoo! $2/1 Glidden® Brilliance Collection™ Paint Tester (Redeem at Walmart only). I want to say these are less than $3. I will be getting Blue-Grey Slate as pictured below........
Teal Fabric Flowers
I have become obsessed with fabric rosettes. I want to put them on pillows, bows, shirts, picture frames................OBCESSED. Anyway, I made a few of these last night in hopes of redoing a dark brown twig wreath I found at the thrift store.

Cheesy Chicken and Rice
Dinner last night was yum. AND super easy!
1 cup cooked chicken
1 cup frozen vegetables (cooked)
1 box Uncle Ben's Herb Chicken Rice
1 can Cream of Celery
Salt
Pepper
Garlic Powder
3/4 cup Cheddar Cheese
Cook vegetables and rice separately. Since vegetables cook faster than the rice, add chicken, cream of celery and spices to the vegetable pot. When rice is done, combine all together and top with cheese. Throw it in the oven until the cheese has melted, and bam! Dinner :) The kids loved it.
